To be clear, you do have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. 2. Legitimate interests – we’re collecting or using your information because it benefits you, our organisation or someone else, without causing an undue risk of harm to anyone. All of your data protection rights may apply, except the right to portability. Our legitimate interests are:
- We collect this personal information to enable the creation of a database, which will allow our membership to develop beneficial collaborations within this specific community. The benefits outweigh the risks as the data we collect i.e., name, email and research interests are already available within the public domain (i.e., within University or other institutional public webpages).
- Additionally, the database that will be formed will enable members to access information far easier than what they would ordinarily be able to do. We see no risk or negative impact on anyone involved as this data will not be shared beyond the membership.
Our lawful bases for collecting or using personal information for service updates or marketing purposes are: 1. Consent - we have permission from you after we gave you all the relevant information. All of your data protection rights may apply, except the right to object. To be clear, you do have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. 2. Legitimate interests – we’re collecting or using your information because it benefits you, our organisation or someone else, without causing an undue risk of harm to anyone. - We collect this personal information to enable the dissemination of a regular newsletter, containing information and opportunities relevant for this specific community. The benefits outweigh the risks as the data we collect i.e., name, email and research interests are already available within the public domain (i.e., within University or other institutional public webpages).
- We see no risk or negative impact on anyone involved as a) recipients of the newsletter is not exposed to the personal details of any other recipient and b) this data is managed by a GDPR-compliant mailing system (Mailchimp).
